Hall Of Fame - Leh Ladakh

Hall of Fame is the museum which is built by the Indian Army in the memory of brave Indian soldiers who laid down their lives by defending motherland in the war of Indo-Pak. The museum is situated on the road of Leh-Kargil which is 4km away from the Leh city. The place is the reminder of the great sacrifices which was done by our soldiers for the security and safety of our country.

Things to explore inside

The museum consists of the two stories which are divided into different sections containing several displays. In the upper floor, there’s a section named OP Vijay Gallery. Here, you may see the weapons which were used in the war of Kargilaking with the ammunition and arms captured by the Army at the time of war. On the same floor but in a different section, various types of amenities and apparel used by the Army in Siachen area are also displayed. 

If you head towards another section on the ground floor ofHall of Fame, you’ll get to see the pictures of Kargil War on the walls. It displays how the Indian Army fought the war. There’s also a specific wall named ‘Lest We Forget’ which has the photographs of soldiers who gave away their lives by defending the nation. It is the emotional sight to come across and also remind of the sacrifices made by the soldiers to make sure that the country is secure and safe.

On the ground floor, there’s also the projection room where you canwatch the documentary ‘Operation Vijay’. The particular moving sight on the floor meets in the form of a frame on a wall called ‘The Last Post’. It is the letter which was written by Captain VijayantThapar to his parents some days before he attained martyrdom. After reading the letter, you’ll overcome by a profound sense of pride and grief while your eyes will get filled with tears. 

There’s also the section on the ground floor which displays the culture, history and other facts associated with Ladakh. It also has the souvenir shop where you may purchase several items including caps, t-shirts, pashmina shawls and coffee mugs among others. You can also get the photoshoot done in the Ladakhi attire and get the prints photoshopped after paying a small amount.

Opening and Closing Time

The Hall of Fame museum remains open from 9 A.M to 1 P.M and then 2 P.M to 7 P.M.

Entry Fees

You need to buy the entry ticket of Rs 25 per person. If you want to do photography inside the museum, an additional charge of Rs 50 will be taken.

Hall of Fame is located on the road of Leh-Kargil which is 4km away from the city of Leh. From KushokBakulaRimpochee Airport, the place is situated at a distance of 2.1 km.
